Announcing: Fruit Servers Cobblemon
If you were wondering what the teaser was about last week, and why the pixeltest server seems to have been super busy recently, that's because the Pixelmon team has been working diligently behind the scenes to put together a brand new Pokemon experience for the community: Cobblemon!
Why the change?
While Pixelmon will certainly be missed, along with all of the memories we've made over the years, we think it's time for a change.
Cobblemon is a much more modern Pokemon mod and has quickly grown an enormous following. It's something we've been considering for the past 12 months, and we think it gives us a great foundation for the next chapter of Pokemon on Fruit Servers.
A Brand New Experience
The switch to Cobblemon opens up an enormous amount of potential for the Pokemon server.
Almost all of the development power of the network has been put towards Cobblemon over the past month, and we've been working on a lot of new features and ideas to make this a brand new Fruit Servers experience.
We can't wait to show you what we've been working on.
The Big Switch
The Pixelmon server will be closing on the morning of Friday, September 11th, and Cobblemon will open later that same day in its place.
Instructions on how to join, along with a full list of the new features we're adding, will be included in our opening announcement.
Launching in BETA
Cobblemon will launch in a BETA state.
We're confident it will be an enormous amount of fun, but we also know there will be plenty for us to learn as we go. We'll be extremely receptive to player feedback as we continue to develop the server, and we want our players to help shape where Cobblemon goes from here.
What version?
The server has been built in Cobblemon 1.7.3, but following the release of Cobblemon 1.8 over the weekend, we'll be pushing to launch with 1.8 on Friday.
What does this mean for current Pixelmon players?
With Pixelmon closing on Friday, we've re-opened the PokeClaim system.
Use /pokeclaim in-game for more information.
Historically, PokeClaim was used to allow players to bring one Pokemon across a server reset. This time, we're hoping to bring this final memento of Pixelmon into Cobblemon in some form later on.
We don't have all the details worked out just yet, but we'll provide more information once we do.
We also know that many players have purchased perks and other in-game benefits on Pixelmon over the years. This is something we’re actively looking at as part of the transition, and our goal is to ensure that players retain as many of their transferable perks as possible when moving to Cobblemon.
If there's a Pokemon in your party that you really don't want to lose, make sure you use PokeClaim before Pixelmon closes.
The Next Chapter
Pixelmon has been a huge part of Fruit Servers for a long time. We've battled, traded, explored, built, competed and made countless memories together, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has been a part of it over the years, and those who made it possible. While we're saying goodbye to Pixelmon, we're not saying goodbye to Pokemon on Fruit Server - and we hope you’ll all come and be part of something new.
Pixelmon closes Friday, September 11th.
Cobblemon opens later that day.
